Processes of interest are often modelled as multistage processes. At transition times the model can change, sometimes in connection with a state-dependent switch. The equations read as

0 = F_i[x,u,v]  \;\;\;\; t \in [t_{i}, t_{i+1}]

on a time grid \{t_i\}_i. With smooth transfer functions also changes in the dimension of optimization variables can be incorporated, [Leineweber1999]Address: D\"usseldorf
